Our full service garden center and daylily farm is just 12 minutes north of Huntsville, Ontario – in the beautiful Almaguin Highlands region. Easily accessible from Highway 11 and set on a pretty 16 acre country property we are the ‘hidden gem' waiting for you to explore at leisure.
At Fern Glen you will always find quality zone hardy plant materials just ready and waiting to be taken to a new home. Our ladies are knowledgeable and qualified with many years of combined gardening experience and are genuinely interested in answering questions to help you find just the right thing for your home or cottage garden. Whether you want us to design and plant a garden or simply need ideas we really do know our stuff and we are happy to spend time with you. Our specialty is Hemorocallis - the hardy Daylily. We have over 200 named cultivars plus a huge selection of unnamed varieties or 'seedlings'. All of our northern daylilies are field grown without artificial help to speed up the growing process. Our winters are extremely harsh but the freeze thaw cycles we get weed out the weak and unsuitable daylilies so you can rest assured that if they grow here they will grow anywhere!
In fact we love Daylilies so much that every year in summer when our babies are blooming we organize a whole weekend of family fun and music to celebrate this amazing flower. This year why not mark your calendar on July 24th & 25th and make a plan to come and join us. For the third consecutive year we are privileged to welcome the Northern Lights Steel Orchestra to fill our valley with lively Caribbean style steel pan music whilst you walk our lily fields to make your selection which we will then dig up for you.
We also stock seasonal bedding plants, gorgeous hanging baskets and planters, trees, soils and mulches. We honestly believe it’s well worth a trip to see what we are about as we have so much that sets us apart from the rest.
Lily's Place is our small cafe that has all the right ingredients, amazing water from wells on our property, a brand new authentic Italian espresso machine to prepare great specialty coffees - cappuccinos, lattes, mochas and steamers. Plus freshly ground coffee from the Reunion Island Coffee Company who roast their beans in small batches too ensure premium quality. Our house blend "Las Hermosas" is Columbian from a farming co-operative supported by a project that educates and ensures the farmers are paid a fair price. For tea drinkers we carry a range of organic, herbal and regular teas served in "brown betty's" and bone china if requested. Homemade treats are always available.
For those not so keen on gardening (heaven forbid) Lily's is a place to take it easy. We have put up a bug screen, have a supply of videos and magazines and if it’s quiet our entertaining barista plays a mean game of cards or will read your tarot! Wifi, hopefully, will be available soon.
