Great tasting coffee comes when freshly ground beans are used in an authentic Italian espresso machine. Our Simonelli machine makes exceptional specialty coffees – espresso, cappuccino, lattes and steamed beverages plus we have excellent regular coffee.

We use Reunion Island Coffee (a small batch premium coffee roaster) and we chose direct trade coffee "Las Hermosas" as our house brand. It is genuinely one of the best Columbian coffees we have ever tasted. We also have a wide range of organic and herbal teas which we are happy to serve in teapots with English bone china. For those with a sweet tooth home made treats are always available.



Fern Glen is more than a garden center – it’s a great place to spend time


When we moved to Emsdale in 2008 we knew we had found a wonderful spot to call home. We haven't missed the city one iota but being a country garden center has one major drawback - you have to go a long way for a really good cup of coffee. It soon became apparent that lots of other local people felt the same

Many of our clients are cottagers and they made it clear that they do not like to be rushed when they shop for planting material however they sometimes are accompanied by people who fall into the 'not so keen' category. We thought about what we could do to make shopping at Fern Glen a great experience for all

The answer was simple – we like good coffee, we had the space and now we have the cafe.

Our little dark shop has been transformed into Lily's Place - named after the greenhouse cat - a cheery spot to relax and get away from the bugs and out of the sun. We have magazines and videos for entertainment plus on quiet days our barista will read your tarot cards!
